Sadly, there are some cities that pose many dangers to foreigners, especially if they were alone. I am not talking about taxi scams or pickpockets, it is more dangerous than that, including armed gangs and terrorism.
So before you book a flight, make sure your next destinations are not one of the cities included in this list or you can purchase strong travel insurance before you travel.
#1 – Caracas, Venezuela
Caracas is a beautiful city, indeed. But, it poses many risks to tourists due to the political instability and violence that becomes a way of life.
According to U.S Department of Travel, Americans should stay away from Venezuela because while protesting, there may be escalating violence between the police and protestors, resulting in arrests and death. Plus, armed gangs keep mugging, kidnapping, and murdering random individuals all around the country.
However, many airlines stopped flying to Venezuela, and American embassy employees’ voluntary evacuated. So, if you are willing to visit Venezuela, be extra careful not to be a victim of the escalated violence.
#2 – Mexico City, Mexico
Mexico City is very accessible and it is definitely the favorite destinations of all American travelers, but recently, there were so many violence reports by solo travelers that complained about mugging, kidnapping, and assault. Plus, women are advised to never use public transportation at night to avoid any risks from gangs.
On the other hand, Mexico City is known to be one of the most polluted places. There are many Americans who travel to Mexico each year safely and perfectly. But, it is necessary to be extra careful and to prepare a safer plan ahead of the travel.

Jakarta offers the tourists a chance to enjoy the tropical weather with a dose of exciting adventures and unique culture. Unfortunately, what’s under the surface may pose more danger than we can assume.
According to the British Foreign Ministry, Jakarta is where tourists can be threatened by terrorism and be kidnapped, turning their dream vacation into a nightmare. On the other hand and due to natural reasons, Jakarta is under the risk of having earthquakes and Tsunamis without any warning.
