There are many places on earth whose beauty may hide many risks, and we better enjoy and embrace them from a distance, for our own good anyway because no one wants to lose their life drowning.

#1 – Great Blue Hole, Belize

This place truly looks like a masterpiece from above. A big circle of clean dark blue water that gives you a strong desire to dive right into it and discover all the secrets it holds in its heart.

Unfortunately, there are many divers who lost their lives while they were diving to its depth. This Great Blue sinkhole is around 40 meters deep (135 ft), which is very dangerous since many open water divers are certified only to 18 meters.

However, it is still one of the most beautiful and interesting places on earth, and if you are willing to travel into this destination, make sure to not risk your life by jumping into the dangers of a deadly beautiful hole.

#2 – Jacob’s Well, Texas

If you love diving, then there is no doubt that Jacob’s well is at the top of your travel’s bucket-list. This well is 30-foot deep with crystal clear water located northwest of Wimberley, Texas.

It is actually one of the most interesting destinations and one of the most dangerous diving places in the world because it has been known to swallow people whole. Honestly, this well is very interesting and incredible to witness, especially when you know that it has been a non-stop source of water for decades. Is it one of God’s miracles? Maybe!

But, nothing’s worth jumping into it and risking your whole life. You can, however, plan a trip to enjoy its beauty with your friends as long as you won’t do anything that involves diving or swimming.

#3 – Lake Michigan, USA

You can consider Lake Michigan as the “sibling” of the Bermuda Triangle because it is where one of the most devastating air crashes occurred in North America for no logical reasons.

On the other hand, and according to some sources, Lake Michigan take several dozens of lives each year which made it one of the most dangerous water locations in the world, even for good and professional swimmers. Again, we insist to not travel to this destination unless you are not willing to jump into the depth of it.

#4 – Blue Hole, Dahab

This place is, without a doubt, the most dangerous destination for diving in the world because it is 400 ft deep cave. This place is a few kilometers north of Dahab, Egypt.

Most experienced divers who survived the Blue Hole explained that the cause of death while diving in this place is usually nitrogen narcosis, which gives a similar feeling of being intoxicated by alcohol. It causes numbness and inability to move.

However, you can take a trip to the Blue Hole, but only to relax and rejuvenate, unless you want your name to end up on the Blue Hole Memorial Wall.

#5 – Lake Natron, Tanzania

This place is actually one of the most interesting lakes on earth because it is the saltiest, most alkaline lakes ever. Lake Natron is covered with a salt crust that sometimes turns to red.

Often, the water temperature reaches 120°F, which obviously makes this place unfit for life. As a matter of fact, only three kinds of fish who were able to adapt to the extreme conditions and they are the only creatures on earth that are capable to live there.

In conclusion, it may not be a very good idea to plan a trip to this place, even if you can survive the heat, you won’t be able to survive the alkaline.

#6 – Boiling Lake, Dominica

Speaking of heated water, Boiling Lake can actually heat up to 199°F, and that’s because of the hot air that spurts from beneath the ground. Plus, the water can actually be neighbored with lava. Clearly, swimming in this lake is strictly prohibited. Don’t trust it even if there are no “bubbles” on its surface because, in a matter of seconds, the boiling can start.

However, you can’t forbid yourself from visiting this unique place and enjoy the natural smoke. But, make sure to have someone who is well-experienced of this area because you may fall into the boiling mud, and that is equally dangerous as swimming in the lake.

#7 – Horseshoe Lake, USA

Don’t be fooled by its beauty because Horseshoe Lake is full of killing gases. Located in California, where the sun never hides, Horseshoe Lake allocates a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.

Because of many small earthquakes, many natural deadly gases were released to the surface and caused many trees to around the lake to die. While visiting California, you may take a road trip to the Horseshoe Lake to witness this unique phenomenon. However, make sure to stay at least 15ft away from the lake to prevent any danger.

#8 – Rio Tinto, Spain/Portugal

Rio Tinto has blood-red water that presents a result of 5,000 years of mining pollution.
This river has high acidic levels of heavy metals such as silver, gold, and copper. Plus, and to add to our amazement, scientists have discovered that the river is a home of bacteria that is found in our solar system, such as Jupiter’s moon!

In fact, traveling to Rio Tinto is the closest we can get to other planets without actually leaving earth. Interesting, but it is still very dangerous. Make sure to have a life insurance before you book your ticket.

The Drake Passage may be the worst nightmare location for the Titanic because it is full of icebergs and wind speeds reaching 80 miles per hour. This passage is the cemetery of all ships and boats and it was named after the only surviving ship, Drake.

However, passengers can still watch the whales and hourglass dolphins in Drake’s passage. But, is it really worth the risk?
